ABOUT MY WORK

Dee Grant is a highly regarded dance artist based in the south east of Ireland. She is an Independent Dance Artist and a choreographer (and was former Artistic Director of Myriad Dance from 1999 to 2013).

Dee has an excellent reputation for making and delivering new contemporary dance performance projects for a wide variety of contexts and has worked collaboratively alongside regional artists, arts centres & several local authorities throughout her career.

She also lectures in dance part-time at Waterford Institute of Technology to Theatre Studies, Social Care, Early Childhood Students.


In recent years, Dee has developed a committed socially engaged practice with interests and expertise in health and somatic practice.

​

In Summer 2017, Dee Grant became Dance Artist in Residence in Waterford, supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, Garter Lane Arts Centre & Waterford City & County Council, Ireland.

'THE RESILIENCE OF MEMORY'
A DANCE & OLDER PERSONS PROJECT

'The Resilience of Memory' is a dance & older person's performance project That is filmed due Padraig Grant. The project was  generated by the current Dance Artist in Residence , Dee Grant through out 2018. She  collaborates with the Best Foot Forward dance club through rehearsal , sharing and recordings of a series of interviews which concludes with a outdoor performance filming at the beautiful Mount Congreve Gardens, Co waterford. The Dance film in its entire form will premiere at Bealtaine next year.

The theme of this year’s show is ‘Crossing Bridges’, Traces Dance Ensemble explores encounters with the mainstream.  Meeting people & new situations. Crossing Bridges is a theme exploring relationships between people with Down Syndrome & the public. Where they meet, cross over, interact, inspire each other. And how perceptions can change?

TIN SOLDIER, PAPER DANCER, WEXFORD ARTS CENTRE

A thrilling choral ensemble work for voice, solo guitar, contemporary dance & visual art. Performed by a cast of 12 singers with dance soloist, Dee Grant . Based on the works of Hans Christian Andersen and the story of the 'Brave Tin Soldier' and with original music by Nick Day. It is presented by This, That and the Other Productions in association with Wexford Arts Centre, Ireland, 21st/22nd October 2016 and will tour in 2017.

'BAREFOOT ON THE CLOVER' @ COLCLOUGH WALLED GARDENS

In association with the beautiful Colclough Walled Gardens, Tintern Abbey, Saltmills, Co Wexford, Ireland & Hook Tourism.
Dance Artist, Dee Grant designs a special perfomance & public workshop for movers to re-discover and re-experience the sensation of barefeet on the grass and beautiful lawns of the gardens.
